Wednesday 26th May 2010

I've been up to a lot since I last updated my blog, but I'm still not crawling. I know, I'm keeping you all waiting, but I am nearly there - and I am trying really hard! Mummy and daddy say I'm very trying anyway.....Last week I was on holiday with mummy, daddy, Harriet and Granny Judy in Centerparcs. It was great fun. We went swimming every day, and Harriet got to go down some massive water slides. I'm hoping I'll get to do that next year, but I had fun splashing about in any case. Harriet and I had more water fun at a water activity which granny and daddy took us to. We got to splash about and get really messy and wet - as you can see we got to wear snazzy green overalls, but they didn't keep us very dry! Harriet and I have been keeping up with our swimming lessons as well. On Saturday Harriet had her first solo lesson in the water without mummy or daddy with her. We all watched her, and she did brilliantly. Doesn't she look fab in her pink goggles. I have moved up a class too, and last weke in my lesson I swam under water through a hoop to mummy - I feel very proud of myself. Well, it's the end of an era soon, Mummy starts back to work next week, so I'll be going to nursery every day with Harriet. I'm going to nursery tomorrow and Friday to get me used to it, before I start full time next Tuesday. So we had our last Tuesday with Granny and Grandpa Meikle yesterday. We went up to their house and played in the garden, which was lovely. It will be very strange not being with mummy all day, every day, but I'm sure I'll be fine. I love nursery, and I'm looking forward to making lots of new friends. I hope I feel a bit better than I have done over the last couple of days. My teeth have been driving me nuts. I've got 2 new ones just coming through and my ears have been hurting a bit too. I saw the doctor today and she said my ears were quite blocked, but not infected, so I'm sure I'll be okay. I haven't lost my appetite in anycase, and yummy blackberries were the order of the day earlier in the week, as you can see from my blackberry beard!

Thursday 6th May 2010

It's General Election day, and only another 17 and a bit years until I can vote as well, so that writes off the next 4 elections then! But I don' t mind. I've had another fab day in nursery today. I'm really getting the hang of it, and I love all the staff and my new friends. I even have a friend called Nara, whose birthday is on the same day as mine. Talking of birthdays, it's Harriet's birthday soon, and she's having a Peppa Pig party with her friend Isobel. I'm so excited, I can't wait to go, and then it will be my birthday soon after that.I think I'm going to be able to crawl by the time I'm 1. I'm trying really hard at the moment, and I don't like sitting still for a second, as I need to practise as much as I can. Needless to say, I'm falling on my face a lot, which means mummy and daddy are having to rescue me quite often. I think they will be happy when I'm finally crawling, as I'm getting really frustrated at the moment. My swimming lessons are going well. Harriet and I have had another 2 lessons since I last updated my blog, and Harriet is even going to start having lessons without mummy or daddy in the pool soon. Wow - I think I'm a way off that yet, but I am really good at swimming under the water - it doesn't phase me at all - so I'm excited about our holiday at Centerparcs in Nottingham in a couple of weeks time. I'll be able to go swimming every day - Yippee! Then it will be off to nursery full time for Harriet and me, as mummy will be going back to work at the start of June. Harriet and I will get to go to nursery together every day, so we thought we should wear the same t-shirt, so everyone will know we are sisters! Don't we look fab?

Thursday 22nd April 2010

What fun Harriet and I have playing together. We went to the playground with mummy on Tuesday, and had lots of laughs swinging on the swings together. I'm not very good at staying upright, and I can't swing as high as Harriet, but I still enjoyed myself. I can't wait until I'm big enough to swing high and go down the slide. Since I last updated my blog I've had 2 more days at nursery. I really have fun there, but rather than tiring me out as mummy and daddy hoped, it actually revs me up and makes me really hyper, so I haven't been wanting to go to bed until after 9pm on my nursery days! Whoops - I don't think mummy and daddy are going to be too pleased if I carry on like that when mummy is back at work. I went up to the JR on Tuesday with mummy to get my hearing checked. This is because I was very jaundiced whe I was in Special Care, and that can have an effect on your inner ear, so I needed to be checked out. The good news is my inner ear is fine, but my outer ear was not 100%. I couldn't hear the quieter sounds. The audiologist thought it was because my ears were both full of gunge from having persistent colds for the last couple of months, so I am to go back in 4 months time to see her again and to see if the gunge has gone, and my hearing is back to normal. If not then I might have to have gromets in my ears to help me out - yuck! In the meantime, mummy and daddy have to make sure they give me 1-2-1 time to talk to me when there is no background noise to make sure my speech development comes on as it should, and isn't effected by my gunky ears. I think my speech is coming along just fine - I am very noisy and love chatting and talking to everybody. Once I have a few more teeth I'll really be able to say a few more things, and eat a few more things too, although I am getting very good with my finger food already - I can't believe I'll be 10 months old soon - doesn't time fly?

Thursday 8th April 2010

I haven't updated my blog for a very long time. That's because I've been holidaying in Norfolk with my family. I've also been poorly, I've cut my first 2 teeth, and I've also started nursery! Can you believe it? It's a miracle I can keep my eyes open! I would have enjoyed my holiday more if I hadn't been so ill for most of it. My first 2 teeth came through, so I was in a lot of pain because of that, and I also had a very nasty lurgie, which meant a visit to the doctor whilst we were away to get me some antibiotics. They made me feel a lot better, so I ejoyed the second half of our week away. My first tooth appeared on the day we arrived in Norfolk. It was my bottom front tooth on the right hand side, and then on Wednesday night I was not a happy girl and cried a lot, and by Thursday morning another tooth had appeared, this time on the bottom on the left. Mummy and daddy think that I've got more coming through as my cheeks have been very firey and tonight I didn't want to go to sleep until 9.30pm as my teeth were keeping me awake. I got to show Grandpa my new teeth, as he came on a surpise visit to see us for a couple of days whilst we were on holiday. We went to the Sealife Centre in Great Yarmouth, and saw sharks, turtles and penguins amongst other things. I was still feeling under the weather though, so I didn't enjoy it as much as Harriet did. Harriet went swimming every day on holiday. I went a couple of times when I was feeling better, and impressed Grandpa with my under water swimming exploits. Harriet also did a lot of bike riding and even went for a ride in a trap with a little pony pulling her along. I didn't get to go for the ride, but I posed for a photo with Harriet and mummy afterwards! Last week daddy was off work for the week, so I got to spend some nice quality time with him. I also had my first full day at nursery in preparation for going there full time in June. I did very well, and hardly cried at all. Mummy and daddy were very proud of me. I was there again today, and had a lovely day playing outside in the sandpit, as the weather was so nice. I'll be back at nursery next Thursday. Last weekend was Easter, so we had a nice family get together and did a big Easter Egg hunt. It was great fun. I didn't get to eat any chocolate, but Harriet tells me it's yummy and definitely worth waiting for. I got some lovely Easter presents though to add to my toy collection, and I'm sure the Easter Bunny will bring me some chocolate next year.

Sunday 14th March 2010

Hello, I'm back again to update on my exciting antics. I've been catching up with pals this week. I saw some of my special Care and hospital mates on Wednesday, and we're all doing really well. I reckon we're all about the same size now, and all starting to sit up and roll around. I'm getting really good at sitting, so much so that I can even sit up in the bath now - not for very long before I get knocked over by Harriet splashing about though, so I have to watch out. Harriet and I went to our swimming lessons together on Saturday for the first time. I have been going on a Wednesday up until now, but now Harriet and I are both going on a Saturday morning in preparation for when mummy goes back to work in June. I was a real pro in my lesson, as I'd had lessons before, so I was used as the demonstration baby nearly every time! I swam under water nicely and kicked my legs for mummy. Harriet did really well in her lesson too and swam through a hoop under the water. It's Mothering Sunday today, so Harriet and I cooked mummy breakfast and took it to her in bed - not really!!!! I woke up at 5.45am, so mummy wasn't very impressed with me. Harriet and daddy made mummy a lovely cup and saucer though, and we all went to a special Mothering Sunday church service and we lit candles for our mummy and gave her some flowers. I've been waking up early recently, so mummy has had to start feeding me more milk at about 10pm again to try and get me to sleep longer - oops, I don't think she's very happy with me for that - I think it's just because I'm growing a lot in preparation for starting nursery. I do my first practice without mummy tomorrow for an hour and then on Thursday I spend a whole morning there ready for my first full day on 1st April - how exciting. I'm also teething a lot although I don't have any teeth yet. Harriet got her first tooth when she was 10 months old apparently. I like to chew on everything, including mummy when I'm feeding, so I'm not very popular for that either. Oh dear, I'd better do something to make it up to her - lots of smiles and cuddles should do the trick!

Wednesday 3rd March 2010

I go to a music and movement class every Monday morning and have fun playing instruments, and tapping to the beat! It's supposed to aid brain development, to make sure I'm dead brainy! Anyway it's called Kindermusik (it's not German though), and I love it. Here are some photos of me playing the triangle and shaking my egg shaker, and playing with floaty scarves - what fun! Check it out at http://www.kindermusik.com/

Tuesday 2nd March 2010

I have been having a fun time seeing family this weekend. Here is a pic of me with Harriet and my cousin Issy. We are the 3 muskateers. I am the leader - even though Harriet doesn't know it yet - I let her think that she rules the roost, but really I'm the one calling the shots. That's why I let her draw all over my face with a biro on Thursday, just before Granny Judy arrived - it was to make sure I got maximum attention! Mummy only left us alone in the kitchen for a couple of minutes, but Harriet managed to decorate my face nicely in that time. I look like I've grown a beard! Harriet went to stay with Granny Judy for the weekend, so I got mummy and daddy all to myself for a few days. Mummy went off to lunch with her friend Helen on Saturday, so daddy and I spent the day together. Daddy took me to my swimming lessonk, which I wasn't keen on. I got cold and had to leave my lesson half way through. But the rest of the day was lovely and we enjoyed 'bonding'. We went up to Birmingham to see Auntie Shellie and Uncle Chris on Sunday and cousin Issy. It was great fun to play at their house, and Granny Judy brought Harriet over after lunch, so we had a girls afternoon, while our daddies watched the football. It was Aston Villa against Manchester United. Daddy supports Villa and uncle Chris supports United, so daddy wasn't very pleased with the result. Oh well, hopefully they'll do better in the FA cup against our local team Reading at the weekend. I saw Granny Wendy and Grandpa today and after some initial tears and lip wobbles, I had a lovely time with them and some lovely cuddles too. I just get a little bit nervous of people sometimes, so it's nothing personal. As long as mummy and daddy are close by then I'm okay. Auntie Shellie measured my vital statistics on Sunday, as she is a health visitor. My weight is now 16lb 5oz, my length is 67cm and my head circumference is 43.5cm. This means I am all in proportion, and between 25th and 50th centile for everything. Hooray!

Thursday 18th February 2010

I've finally decided that I might just smile for the camera occasionally, so here are a few pics, just to prove it! I've been under the weather the past week, with a nasty cough and a cold, so when mummy and I went out to meet Aunty Becky in Oxford yesterday for the day, I had to wear my wooly hat. Don't I look cool? Needless to say it didn't stay on my head very long, as I had great fun pulling it off every 5 minutes to keep mummy on her toes! Tee hee, I did find it very funny.
I have now learned to sit up all by myself, this is a good development, as it means that I can sit in my new high chair quite well. I love my new high chair. It's the same as Harriet's and arrived last week. Daddy put it together, and I've been eating all my meals sitting in it since the weekend. Don't I look grown up? It doesn't help me get any less messy with my food though, as you can see, I still manage to get most of it over my face when I eat. Yum, yum - I'm doing well with my food, I'm now trying to suck on rusks and rice cakes, but I can't wait until I've got a few teeth when I can crunch and munch my way through more different things. I'm off to see my cousins Daniel, Joseph and Georgie tomorrow. We're going to Birdland together, so I can't wait to see all the different birds.

Thursday 11th February 2010

I've had a bonus extra day at home with my sister today, as she's a little bit poorly with a tummy bug. This meant no Buggyfit for mummy and me, however, so we'll have to make sure we get out and about next week a bit more to make up for being couch potatoes today. We had great fun watching Mary Poppins together, and dancing round the coffee table to all the songs. I do a lot of dancing at my Monday music group, so I showed Harriet some moves.I have been trying to practice my rolling this week, but I still haven't managed to roll onto my front. This is probably becuase I am putting on weight at a rate of knots! I am now 15lb 15oz as of Monday, so I am now between the 25th and 50th centile on the chart - that's the highest I've ever been - it must be all the yummy food I'm eating. I've had chicken, fish, lentils and beef so far, and I know mummy has cooked me some yummy organic lamb too - I like to try anything that's going, and I even grabbed daddy's egg sandwich and sucked on it at the book launch we went to on Sunday. Harriet's godmother's sister has written a fab book called Ruby's Spoon. I've got a signed copy all to myself to read when I'm a lot older, which is very exciting. At my swimming lesson this week I swam under water all by myself without mummy holding me. Mummy had to put me under the water and then let go before she caught hold of me again. I was very brave and didn't cry one bit. It was granny Wendy's birthday on Monday, so we're all going up to see her on Saturday as long as I don't catch Harriet's bug - fingers' crossed! I'd also like to introduce my pink mouse - he's my favourite thing, and was bought for me by Sam, who is Harriet's friend's Gene's mum. I love to fight with him and eat his nose to help me go to sleep, and I like to sleep best with him draped over my face!

Wednesday 3rd February 2010

Today I did something rather cool. I rolled for the first time, and mummy caught it on camera. I rolled from my front to my back, so I've now got to try and do it the other way round too. I think I managed it today, because I practised hard with Harriet yesterday, and she showed me her great rolling technique, so how could I not succeed? I also ate beef for the first time today. The texture was a bit funny, but I tried hard and ate most of it. It was some yummy bolognese made by my 'godmother to be' Jayne, with some carrot and courgette thrown in for good measure by mummy. I also had my 3rd swimming lesson today. I went under the water, and was very good all the way through. I didn't cry at all, although lots of the other babies did. I actually laughed quite a lot, and kicked my legs, so I feel very proud of myself. Godmother Jayne goes back to work tomorrow, so 'Good Luck Jayne' we'll be thinking of you. I'm sure all the little animals will be very pleased to have you back at the Vet Surgery looking after them!

Wednesday 27th January 2010

We've been home from holiday for over a week now, and we've had an eventful time. Harriet is virtually potty trained, I'm still sleeping through until 7am (most nights!), and yesterday I starting eating meat. How exciting, a cube of chicken casserole mixed in with my vegetables. Down the hatch, no bother. I had 2 cubes today, and wolfed that down too. Mummy is going to cook me some fish meals tonight so she tells me, and some lentils too, so I'm looking forward to trying all of that. I've also had my first swimming lesson. What fun it was - I even swam under water! I'm going for my second lesson this afternoon, so I am really looking forward to that. I still haven't rolled yet. I met a new friend Katherine this week. She is 5 months old and she is rolling, so mummy says I'd better get a move on. I've told her I'll do it when I'm good and ready. I saw my boyfriend Bobby yesterday - he is now crawling, so he can crawl over and see me now - which is very cool. Granny Wendy and Grandpa came to visit too, which was lovely. Harriet and I are having our swine flu jabs tomorrow afternoon, so we aren't looking forward to that, but our cousins Georgie, Joseph and Daniel had theirs last week, and they were very brave, so I'm bracing myself. Harriet and I are used to needles from our stay in Special Care, especially Harriet, but it doesn't mean we like them! I am going to visit a new friend tomorrow - Pheobe. She was born whilst we were on holiday, so she is even smaller than me - not by much though! I am getting a lot heavier though. Mummy weighed me last week and I was 14lb 14oz, so I'll be well over 15lb by now.

Sunday 17th January 2010

I haven't updated my blog for such a long time, because we've been away on holiday. We went up to Durham for my 1st Cousin once removed's wedding. Her name is Naomi and she got married to Simon - Congratulations!! I was invited to the wedding along with Harriet, but mummy and daddy decided they would have a better time without us. Can you imagine? What a cheek! Anyway we went up to stay in a lovely holiday house http://www.millgranary.co.uk/ for the week, and granny Judy came with us. She looked after Harriet and me while mummy and daddy went to the wedding. I was a bit peturbed that mummy wasn't there to give me my milk, but I filled up on solids, and went to bed fine. Grandpa came to the wedding too, and he stayed with us as well for the weekend, and Aunty Cath stayed on Saturday night too. What fun to see so many people from my family. I also saw more family the day after the wedding, when we went to the golf club at Wynyard to say hello to the bride and groom, and see my Great Auntie Rosie and Great Uncle Ron plus cousin Hannah and her family. And then finally we saw Great Gran Foreman on Tuesday when she cam to have lunch with us for the day. I was exhausted by all the socialising I can tell you! Mummy thought I might finally roll over whilst we were on holiday, but I didn't I'm afraid, however I did drop my 10pm feed, and slept right through the night until mummy woke me up the next morning. That's right, I'm now officially a 12 hour a night baby with no breaks. Mummy and daddy are very proud of me. I think I'm sleeping well because I now have 3 meals a day. Yummy porridge in the morning, and veggies and fruit for my lunch and tea. I'll be starting to try protein meals soon, and I know mummy is going to be making some delicious recipes next week for me to try - chicken , lentils, beef, fish - yum, yum. Harriet has had a big week too. She spent a lot of time out of her nappy this week, and is now getting very good at using her potty. Yesterday she was in big girl pants all day with no accidents, so there were lots of stickers and cuddles all round. Next week I might be having a swine flu jab. Mummy and daddy need to decide whether Harriet and I should have it or not. I'm still very little, and only just 6 months old, so I think it might hurt a lot. I'm a bit unsure, so I'm going to get advice from my Aunties Emma and Shellie. Back to the normal routine this week now we're back from holiday and all the snow has finally gone. We had so much snow, we thought we might not make it to the wedding in Durham, and we really haven't been out much at all over the last few weeks, what with this snow, plus mummy's poorly foot, but it's Kindermusik tomorrow, and then you never know, we may finally get to do a swimming lesson on Wednesday, plus I've got a date with my boyfriend Bobby at the creche at Abingdon leisure centre on Friday - he's gonig to be 1 in a couple of weeks, so he is getting very grown up!
