I am a whole 10 days old today, and I celebrated this by having my sats monitor removed and being transfered onto an apnoea mat. This is excellent progress, and it takes me a step closer to going home. Basically, the nurses said I had been so good with my sats (my oxygen saturation and my breathing), that they didn't have to monitor me so closely any more, so I ll be on an apnoea mat for the next few days, and if I behave myself and breathe like I'm supposed to, then that will go too - hurrah. So that means I'm nearly tube and wire free! I've just got my feeding tube in my nose now, as my cannula was also removed this afternoon now that I've finished my course of antibiotics. I'm pleased to say they've done the trick, and my armpit is looking good as new with no redness in sight. Mummy and daddy arrived to see me at just before my 3 hourly feed was due at 11am. They changed my nappy, and my clothes, and I gave daddy some extra work to do by weeing all over my sheet - oops! Mummy and I had another feeding practice -before I had my feed through my tube - I'm trying hard, but I haven't quite got the hang of this breastfeeding lark yet, so we'll just have to keep trying. We tried again this afternoon and then I took a whole 15ml of milk from a bottle, so I am really persevering with my sucking, as I know that's how I'm going to get home. I am currently having 37ml of milk every 3 hours, and mummy has been told to stop bringing milk in for me for the moment, as the freezer is overflowing - I'd better keep growing quickly, so that I can start drinking some more! I'm pleased to say that my sister's eye infection has also got a lot better, so that is good news, and you can see a picture of here here with one of the teddies which I've been sent. I hope she gives it back to me when I come home! By the way, it was my cousin Daniel's 4th birthday yesterday, and I forgot to wish him many happy returns, so Happy birthday Daniel - hope you had a great party today!
